The handles are made from oyster shells harvested from producers based on Oleron Island, which are then crushed and cast in resin. Which Laguiole then combine with traditional Sandik Swedish Steel.

Laguiole originated in the 1920s in the village of the same name; a small mountain settlement of the Aveyron in Southwestern France. Inspired by the Hispanic Navaja and their local knife, the Capouchadou, they created Laguiole Knives. Each knife is designed, built, bolstered, sharpened, polished and finished by hand from start to finish, resulting in a unique and exceptional knife that is guaranteed to last a lifetime.
